I purchased a voucher from viator and was able to see some of Cairo on my layover in Egypt. I thought I would have 11 hours but I didn't know that everyone needs a visa to leave the airport and enter the country. They tried to get me to purchase a visa at the bank for 25 dollars and I was being frugal so I said I'll wait the hour for Egypt Air (the airline I flew in) to provide it for free. Long story short, my flight landed at 1030am and I didn't leave the airport until 1ish.
My tour guide Michael was waiting for me at the airport. Him and the driver welcomed me to Egypt. I was supposed to do 3 to 5 activities on the list but time didn't permit that so we did the most important thing....the Great pyramid. They did stop in front of the Nile River for me to take pictures. I saw the Giza, Valley temple and the sphinx. I also went to the bazaar. In between both activities, I got to see the tomb of the royal scriber of the king. There were hieroglyphics and Michael translated for me. For lunch I went to Abu Shakra and even though the package said lunch is included.... I still had to pay for my drink....I guess lunch equates to food only, lol. I went to the Al Houssain mosque in the market area. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go inside because it was after 5pm. The bazaar had many people trying to sell me items seeing that I was a tourist. I got a couple of things after negotiating their super inflated prices. I understand the hustle, I live in NY and it's no different than the people on 25th, Fordham Rd, and Flatbush. The last place we went to was the Al Fishaway (sorry if I spelled this incorrectly) coffee shop and had hibiscus juice and smoked cherry sheesha (hookah). The coffee shop was opened in 1710 and has a lot of history. I was taken to the airport after that and boarding my flight to Dubai.
I highly recommend this tour as Michael was an excellent Egyptologist and if you have this tour, ask for him!

Mona was great! We had a perfect day Cairo and Giza. Mona was so friendly and accommodated all that we wanted to see and do. The tour company Lets Explore Egypt was also very helpful and easy to work with. We couldn't recommend them more highly!
