This tour was horrible due to some controllable and uncontrollable situations by the Tour Company. But, if you must take it make sure you go on a WEEK DAY!

We started our day arriving 30 minutes early be respectful and arrive early We departed the Bus Terminal 30 minutes late because the hotel pick up bus was running late. Then on the way to Mt. Fuji we hit massive weekend traffic. If you are going to take this tour DO NOT take this tour on a Saturday or Sunday. We did this tour on Saturday and arrive so late we had to change the itinerary to get to lunch on time. We begged the Tour Guide she was very nice to keep the original schedule as the weather radar showed rain arriving at 3PM we would have been fine if we had arrived on time and gone to Mt Fuji at 1pm as originally planned. The lunch was so-so at a Ninja Themed Restaurant...authentic is not a word I would use to describe this place or the Old Country/Golden Corral Buffet quality food. The hot pot appetizer was nice...a little cold but nice. Then we went to Mt. Fuji...rain/clouds blahand we saw nothing. We left Mt. Fuji so late we could not make our Lake Ashi tour or cable car ride. Then to make the Bullet Train we had to sprint the make the train arriving as we pulled up or wait an additional 30 minutes. Train was nice but it was so dark outside we saw nothingagain! If you skip the Bullet Train option the bus ride option adds an hour to your return to Tokyo return time take the train! Those poor people must have gotten back well after 10 pm!!! Apologies galore by the Guide...so much it was annoying after a while. Bad traffic and weather we understand but much of it was self-inflicted as we departed late and every stop was delayed - why is it on every tour there is one couple that gets back to the bus 15 minutes late at EVERY stop DO NOT BE THAT COUPLE! In short, we spent 348 and 12 hours on the bus for a so-so lunch and a 30 minute Bullet Train ride in the dark! 0-Stars

We arrived back in Tokyo at 9:15pm vs. 6pm that made us miss our 8 PM Dinner Tour which was non-refundable! I would not plan any event after this tour just in case you are delayed.

RECOMMENDATION: Take the Tour on a weekday in the off season to avoid traffic. You should not book anything else that day as the possibility of a very late return is very possible. Better yet...avoid the guided bus tour for Mt Fuji and take the train there on a good weather day of your choosing. Japanese public transit is clean, fast, and more comfortable than the bus. And a bunch load less 's!

Happy travels!!!

what to expect

After morning pickup at select hotels or designated meeting location in Tokyo, relax as your deluxe coach cruises along a scenic 2.5-hour route to Mt Fuji Visitor Center. Learn about the history and geology of Japan’s highest mountain from your guide and the informational exhibits about the revered mountain. From the second floor observation deck, you can get great views of Mt Fuji on a clear day.

After seeing the Visitor Center, return to your coach and proceed to Mt Fuji’s 5th Station, located about halfway up the mountain at 7,545 feet (2,300m). Take in the shrines, torii gates and shops that sell souvenirs, along with views of Mt Fuji and the surrounding lakes (subject to weather conditions). Soak in the invigorating atmosphere of 5th Station; you might even spot some climbers preparing for their adventure. Then have time to enjoy Japanese-style lunch (if you select the "+ Lunch" option at checkout). Otherwise, you have the option to buy your own meal.

After having a bite to eat, drive to nearby Lake Ashi, located in Hakone National Park. Step aboard your boat for a short cruise across the lake. Admire the spectacular scenery of pristine waters surrounded by Mt Komagatake, Mt Fuji and other mountains.

Disembark from the boat and head to the Mt Komagatake Ropeway, an aerial tram that takes you from the shores of Lake Ashi to the top of Mt Komagatake. Have time to walk around the mountain top and take in amazing views of Lake Ashi, the Owakudani volcanic valley and majestic Mt Fuji.

After visiting Hakone, transfer by coach to the evening bullet train (Shinkansen) for your return to Tokyo, where your guide will tell you how to get back to your hotel.

Please note: Views around Mt Fuji are always subject to weather conditions as mountain weather is notoriously unpredictable. Visibility tends to be better during the colder months, in the early morning and late evening.
